My Dear Friends,

I hope that you are well by the grace of God.

Yesterday, Bishop Kopacz celebrated Mass for our Sr. Thea Bowman School, as we get ready to go into Catholic Schools Week, which begins on Sunday. Although it was not the same as compared to our traditional celebrations, it was still a beautiful and special event. After Mass Bishop Kopacz presented certificates to the students in recognition of their achievements. There are some pictures posted on the Facebook pages of the church and the school.

Catholic Service Appeal 2021 is in progress. Your gift to the Catholic Service Appeal supports the education of our seminarians, promotes the lifelong formation and education for Catholics involved in youth and adult ministry, helps those served by Catholic Charities, and other important ministries of our diocese. These needs of our diocesan ministries are real. Your generosity in prayer and through your sacrificial gift, make it possible to provide these services. More importantly, to bring the message of the Gospel to all people. Please prayerfully consider giving generously to this year’s appeal.

Last week I informed you about “The Children are our Future Fundraiser” for our Sr. Thea Bowman School. Please spread the word and support our school. There is additional information about this fundraiser on our church’s website at: http://christthekingjackson.org/the-children-are-our-future-fundraiser/

Several of you probably shop at Amazon. I have now setup a way for you to support our church every time you shop at Amazon. If you make your purchases at AmazonSmile (smile.amazon.com), Amazon will give 0.5% of your purchase to Christ the King. Simply go to smile.amazon.com, and login to your Amazon account. Then pick “Christ the King Catholic Church”, at the Jackson location, as your charity. That’s it! Now your purchases can simultaneously help our church as well. There is no extra cost to you. It’s just a way for Amazon to give us some charity based on your purchases.

St. Joseph Catholic School is hosting a Bruin Break Tour Day, Thursday, February 4, from 10:00am – 2:00pm. St. Joe is known for its incredible faith-infused art, academics, theater, music, and athletics – not to mention that one-of-a-kind spirit which makes St. Joe the exceptional place that it is. This event is for anyone interested in knowing more about St. Joe. For more information or to schedule a time to visit the campus on February 4, please contact Tricia Harris, Advancement Director (601.898.4803 or tharris@stjoebruins.com).

COVID cases and deaths continue to remain significant. Please do everything that you can to stay safe. Remember you are not obligated to attend Sunday Mass. Please do not come to church if you do not feel well or if you have been exposed to the virus or if you have any concerns that you might contract the virus at church. We will continue to live-stream Sunday Mass at 9am on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/CTKJacksonMs/

In sad news, Jana Lindsay’s father, Richard Grisham, passed away earlier this week. May God grant his soul eternal rest. Please keep the family in your prayers.

Please pray for each other and for all those who are on our prayer list. Stay safe and may you stay in good health. You remain in my prayers.

Thank you!
God Bless,
Deacon Denzil Lobo
